Corby screw up.

Hello All.
Looking for advice please.

While sculpting a "coke bottle" handle I accidentally ground through the end of the brass female Corby (.250 diameter head) and left a hole. Ground up some fine brass and Ca glued it in. Looks like Poo.

I only have a drill press and would like to drill them out. Yes, they are epoxied in.
The challenge for me is to somehow center the bit exactly.
Any layman idea?

My luck I'd have to remove the scales (destroying them most likely) and start from scratch. Good luck - the idea of drilling with a small bit to start the hole, then perhaps finishing up with a flat end type endmill might work ok. The hole will need to be large enough to completely remove the screw portion so a small flat end punch can punch the screw portion out the other side.

My luck punching the corby out would cause the epoxy to break enough of the scale to still require a new scale. Is this a wood scale?

Yes Ken, Expensive wood at that.
If I can figure out how to stay centered the whole way, I believe I can salvage this project.
I would love to use one bit size and be done, but I will most likely need to sneak up incrementally.
