River therapy...

Winter in Michigan really sucks. But on ultra rare occasions, we get a brief glimpse of sun and warmer than average Temps. Yesterday was such a day and I took off for some much needed river therapy. I went to just enjoy the peace and solitude of the river, the sun and the water with no other expectations.

But this didn't hurt.

What's that fly you're using, looks pretty big?

It's an articulated double hook streamer. Quite large. In fact, it's the same type pictured on my hat.

In fall and winter especially, streamers are king for flies. They represent a big payoff meal that entice big trout that might be otherwise reluctant to feed.
