This is the last pair of mammoth ivory scales of the bunch I had. The smaller piece will have to be worked down. It is very thick (3/4 inch) and has a crack on the bottom that can be ground out by thinning it - still leaving 1/2 inch of thickness. After reducing it the working dimensions should be 4 inches long X 1 1/8 wide X 1/2 inch thick. Of course, the larger piece will need to be resized to match the smaller piece and there is plenty of material thickness to do that.
