Second Sword Finished

Man, you would not think it would not be so but making swords is like starting knife-making all over again. You would think it would be just like making a big knife but nope. Anyway here is my second attempt. I post it so there will be a progression people can see as I get better at making them not because the sword is perfect.
Its a modern interpretation of a Medieval short sword. 1080 blade (because that is what I had) Gun Koted mild steel guard, Of course I used maple burl for the handle (because its me) and micarta pommel. Sharp convex edge cuts what is hits. There are many things I would change to be sure.AC56498F-0E2A-42D8-BBDE-00480141D252.jpeg0892D9D7-03D9-4518-879E-1238120505C0.jpeg Thanks for looking.

You mean it's NOT just a big knife?!!!

Nice! Since I started doing this I never really wanted to make a sword? Like you I would think its just a big knife too!! I wouldn't even be able to heat treat one now that I'm thinking about it!

Thanks all, like I said there are things i would change but the new owner was thrilled with it and that is what matters. Plus, I got to do some testing with it before I did the final clean up for delivery. You know those huge zucchinis and squash you should have picked a week or more ago...They make great sword targets.
