Carbon Monoxide

Do any of you folks use a carbon monoxide monitor in your shop ,thinking of putting one in. I have a relatively low ceiling and in the cold season I just crack the doors, to night it seemed gassy.

That never occurred to me. Not a bad idea though. I doubt my little forge emits enough to be a problem, but you never know.

I don't, but I forge in the open garage door. If I didn't open up, even if I had an exhaust hood, I'd absolutely use one.

If you are using a forge indoors I would certainly use one, even if using an exhaust hood.

Do it! You'll be surprised at how often it goes off. My hot shop is 48' x 20" with 12" eves..... and unless I have an open window open on one end, and the gable fan on high in the other..... the alarm goes off within 10min of firing up any of my forges.

Since I've gotten sick, Cindy also insisted on have security cameras in both shops to keep tabs on me...... we chose the Wyze cameras.....which also have CO2 alarms built in..... she's sent texts to on several occasions when she got a CO2 alarm on her phone...and couldn't find me in the cameras.
