That’s looking awesome Bruce!! High quality work right there!! I’m working on a Bowie for you but it’s a slow process since I have no clue what I’m doing. I’ll post some pics when I get further along. If it doesn’t work out the way I want I have a back up plan that I think you will be happy with. What length is that blade? You may have already posted that. I’ll look back through the thread. Outstanding work my friend!

I don't have a clue either ! I'm just winging it. So far , so good. The OAL is 13" and the blade is 8" .I'm pleased that you are happy with it so far ,but don't forget , there's lots of ways to still screw it up !. I'm gonna start on the guard tomorrow. Got some interesting things that I want to try with it. BTW , your choice for the handle .... Curly mango , desert ironwood , oak burl or suprise?

Handle choice? Dude, I’m just gonna stay out of the way and let you have at it. I’m thoroughly impressed.

well, today I got the file work started on the kith knife. for days now the guard has given me absolute fits. But I was finally able to beat it into submission. I'm happy with both for right now.
Also went to an auction with the wife yesterday and scored this burlwood. It's incense cedar, I didn't know they produced burls, Its beautiful and it smells great, too! I wonder what ever I will do with it? any suggestions?DSC01426.JPGDSC01432.JPGDSC01434.JPG

I didn't know cedar produced burls either. I guess any tree can under the right conditions. How big is the piece?

Having never cut a burl such as this one , I p.m.ed Gene Kimmi for some instructions. Not only did he respond, but he took the time to actually diagram the recommended slices. I just wanted to say " Thanks Gene " for the info. I truly appreciate the time that you guys take to share stuff with us new guys , it takes some of the trepidation out of working with sharp implements that sometimes end up looking like knives !
