Hello From Pennsylvania

Heikki

KNIFE MAKER
My name is Tim, and I've been doing stock removal knives for almost 3 years now. I've been frequenting this forum as a guest for awhile now and decided it was time to join. I started with hand files and a HF 1X30 and this year upgraded to a 2X72. I love to experiment and learn new things. I have found knife making to be a great creative outlet.

Here is the my first knife made from 1084 using files:

And here is the last knife and sheath I made before Christmas, also 1084:

This seems a very friendly community. I know there's a lot to learn from folks here, as well as inspiration and encouragement.

Thanks!

Welcome! How did you make that rat tail thing? Did you just drill a hole and shape it or something? The knives look good.

Thank you. That was my first attempt at forging something. I profiled it as kind of a spike at the end, then I used a punch held in a vise to hammer it around and shape it. I think I'd like to try twisting the next one.

I talk with my brother up there a lot, man I don't miss those winters, it hit 80 here today I think.
still fighting the mosquitoes in my shop ha ha.
