Thanks. For clarification, the bolsters are pinned to the blade with 1/8 nickle silver pins and not simply epoxied to the liner. I don't see a lot of this type of construction for some (possibly good?) reason. Perhaps someone can provide some insight as to why not. My thinking is along the lines of expansion/contraction rates being different between the bolster and blade steel just as there are differing rates between the wood and blade steel. This method isolates all three components. I suppose the fiber liner could eventually rot out from under the bolster, but then the same argument could be made for the scale/tang connection.
I'm new to all of this and open to (well informed) correction.
