Flitz wax or Rennisance Wax

This is the first I've heard of the Flitz Wax. I use and love Renaissance Wax. I'm interested to hear what folks think about the new Flitz stuff.

I wasn't aware that Flitz made a wax. I've used their polish for years to clean up mild surface rust on blades. Renaissance works really well as a protective barrier. I'd be interested to hear from someone who has used both as well.

I too have not heard about the Flitz wax. I am both knife maker and wood turner. When I spray lacquer on my wood turnings, I polish them with a liquid polish compound and then apply the Renaissance wax. Wow, what a pop. This wax is easy to apply, last's well and i use damn little on each piece. One little can has lasted me 8 years so far (no drying out). Good luck.

This is gona sound strange, but my personal favorite is Mother's Caranuba Cleaner wax from Walmart. I think at one time or the other I've tried/used just about every "wax" out there.....including Ren and Flitz........and I keep going back to the Mother's.

Not at all!

My best all time wax for protecting the wood & metal on my knives was Rain Dance car wax. I also have used Ren, Flitz, etc.

I haven't seen the Rain Dance for a few years so now it's Back to Flitz Rifle & Gun Wax.

Many of these Caranuba/wax based products work well. Ren wax is the most expensive.

Ed I have heard you say this before and tried the mothers. I am not sure if I got the wrong wax or what but it alwyas leaves a gritty residue and leaves a hazy finish even after wiping it off. I ordere both the flitz and ren wax and am going to see which works better.

I've used the Mothers wax on quite a few handles and I love it. Never thought about using in on the blade. For the blade, I use a thin coat of Ren Wax. It works well.
