Looking for 1/16" steel for making a fillet knife.

Anyone know a good source? I only need 12" Not sure what steel I want to use yet. I am not going to be too picky LOL

15n20. Works very well for a filet knife. Aldo will cut you a piece, to your size. and its TUF,, and will work great for a filet knife!

O-1 would be good for me :) I have worked with it before LOL

Let me know what you need for a piece Uncle Billy

I have used both for filet knives.. and when possible, 15n20 is my go to steel.. The O1 was a little more touchy to HT because I was doing it in my forge and O1 has a soak time a temp. But other then that. It worked really good!!!

Heat treat first and use a jig/fixture to hold the blade. It serves two purposes, to keep the blade from flexing & it also helps suck the heat out of the blade when grinding. But go slow.
