I am getting ready to HT some 12C27 blades. My question is can I air quench this steel or is it strictly an oil quench steel. Thanks, Dave

I am getting ready to heat treating two blades that are 154cm. My question is can I double stack them in one stainless steel envelope?

No small children around so no problem there. The bottles are marked. They were not marked in the photo because it hard to wright wearing by full bubble wrap suit.

I use these old soda bottles to store and dispense my WD40 and windex. No more over spray. Tube is from the Wd40 can.

Will a ferro rod spark on all knife steels or only High Carbon.

Thanks Doug. The information is helpful. M2 is hard to find. Alpha is the only supplier I could find in small amounts.

I am looking for a information on heat treating M2 tool steel. Every thing I have read said it is air quench but should really be quenched in a salt pot. Any thoughts? If I send it out for heat treat where should I send it? Any suggestions on a steel that is comparable

Is anyone using the economy PVC idler wheels from wilmont grinders. I can't seem to get away from the black buildup on my platen. Tried different belts from different makers and they all leave the black. Wondering if the PVC may be transferring to the belts and then to the platen.

I done a few knives with madrone scales. The wood I used was all red no white. Came out nice. Easy to work.

The narrow stance was something I changed when I built my grinder. I mounted them on a 10 inch long plate to widen them out for more stability. Never had a problem with the shaft.
