Do you guy's that make folders use to drill the holes and stuff with? Im trying to make a folder and I dont have anything to do precision holding thanks?

I don't do folders but I often use pine or other soft wood jaws for my vises to hold irregular parts. The wood deforms under pressure to fit the part, if necessary they can also be pre-shaped since they are pretty much disposeable, I make them 2 or 3 pairs at a time now so when they wear out I usually have a new set on hand and don't have to halt a project to make new vise jaws.

I used a machinest vice with paralells untill I went to The Texas Slipjoint school this past December now I use a 1-2-3 block and hold the material being drilled with my hand.

Bill Ruple and Rusty Preston have a couple of classes a year at Bill's shop in Plesanton Texas. I learned about it from Rusty at last years Blade Show, the first class was already filled up so I gave him my contact info and he notified me when they set the date for the second class.

I made a simple fixture using a 3/4 x 3 x 6 alum. plate and madea set of strap clamps to clamp the material in place. This allows a bit more leverage to hold the parts than my bare hands. Dan
