Other than a HT oven is there a gadget to let you know what the temp of your still is above 900?

Gadget? Like a pyrometer? What are you trying to accomplish? You can use salt pot with a propane fire. I can't get my forge down to idle at 900 f.

Sorry guys typo steel not still. I am trying to find away to be more accurate with my heat treat until I can afford a HT oven.
