Suggestions for Owner cards

I have included an Owner card with each knife I've sold or given away. The card was a simple two-sided post card that I would just print off on my computer. The card had blank spots for me to fill in the blade steel, handle material, date completed, and Rc. The card also had a little bit of info about my process, knife care and warranty. It also of course had my contact info.

I'm now looking at having some printed professionally, and I'm looking for tips on other info that I should include on the cards. Can anyone give me some ideas?

I tried doing something similar years ago. What I found was that it became a "monster" in that folks would always be calling or emailing, saying they had lost their "card" and wanting a new one. This forced me to start making copies of each one, and then filing it away so I'd be ready when the next "lost card" call/email came in. It wasn't too much time before I had an entire filing cabinet full of "stuff". It just became too much to keep up with and store.

My solution was to go totally digital. Using letterhead I created myself (that is stored on my shop computer and our home server) I create a "Knife Specifications Sheet". Each one is filed in a digital folder on the shop computer, and backed up on the home server.......it's just much simpler and easier that way. If someone looses their specifications sheet, all I have to do is attach a copy to an email and send it, rather then going to a file cabinet, hunting down the origonal. filling out a new one, then mailing it to them.

OK, all that having been said, if you're still set on having them printed, I'd suggest finding a local printer.....maybe a Staples or OfficeMax store. We have both here in Great Falls, and I've had good dealings with both. Either can print about anything you'd want, and it's much easier to deal with a real person face to face, then it is going through the hassle of doing it via the internet (especially if something doesn't turn out the way you want it). Just my humble opinion. :)

Ed what is it printed on the original you give the customer? Just printer paper or like card stock?
Great idea putting it all on computer files

I print the original on 8 1/2 x 11 card stock, but any "replacements" are emailed to the client(s). I always tell them to print it on card stock, but from what I've seen most just print it out on whatever they have in the their printer at the time.
