This sharp corner I made at some point would have opened and traveled to the other side as I continued forging. If you see something like this on a forged piece stop and file or grind it away. This is also the reason you do not want sharp corners where your tang meets ricasso. I forged this from one piece of square bar. I love my press...the last two pictures are after I fixed the stress riser. Hope this helps someone.
