Snakeskin accents

I've got a really nice copperhead skin I want to use to dress up a couple of sheaths I'm getting ready to work on, but I'm wondering what the best way to go about sealing them would be. Typically I use the hot dip method on the sheaths and then form around the knife, but I'm thinking that the thin skins might not handle the heat all that well. Has anybody tried it with success, and if not what else would you suggest?

Jonathan,
I have used the hot dip on snakeskin inlayed sheathes but had some tears in the snakeskin due to the heat . I now just use Neatsfoot oil in multiple coats over several days & have had no more problems with tearing since using this method . I usually put a coat of Bag Kote over the NFO as a final measure for further sealing . Good luck. The Copperhead makes a beautiful sheath ! I hope this helps.
