Sheaths finished and package delivered

I finally finished the two knife orders with the completion of the sheaths. This is the first Bowie sheath I have made and I learned a lot constructing it. The next one will be a little different. I'm thinking a sheath with a slide on belt loop.
 
As usual your work is great. You must of punch the holes for threading. I have just hosed up my first sheath. Some day mine will be as nice as yours!!

Thanks. I still have a long way to go. I used an awl for the holes on the smaller sheath. On the Bowie sheath I used an awl and used a finishing nail in my drill press for the sheath proper stitching.

Finishing nails are small nails with very small heads. They are usually used for "final touches" such as molding or trim. They usually are sunken into the surface and leave a small hole that can be filled in with putty and painted over for a smooth finish and invisible nail and nail hole.

I sand the small head shank off. The nails don’t grab and pull the leather like a drill bit. I run the drill press slow but I gues you could punch the hole just using the arm without starting the drill but I haven’t tried that.
 
Interesting. I know what finishing nails are in wood working. I did not know there was a applacation for sheath making. Thanks I'll give it a try.
 
I wonder how a straight flute drill would work for that? I would think the twist on the drill is what pulled the leather up???? I'll have to see if I cant find one of a good size at work and give it a try.
