Scales for the etched blade

I picked these out to go with the etched blade I made this week. A friend of mine told me he thought the knife was reptilian looking so I put some snakelike scaless on it

Thank you! I've had these for about a year and have pulled them out and put them back several times. But this time I thought it was a good match.
I guess I could have been asking my wife, she likes to co-ordinate items

Thanks guys. The scales are stabilized corn cob and really do look like scales. I'm a little concerned now that when I shape the handle I may loose some of the contrast. Lesson learned - I should have sanded them thinner form the inner tang side.

I picked them up from Jantz supply and got some giraffe bone at the same time - still haven't used them either.
