Saw Blade Steel

I get Simonds(sp) sawblade from a sawmill . A company metalurgist told me they are basically 1080 plus 25 Nickel. I had several spectrographed and he was indeed correct.
L6 it is not but makes for a very fine blade and works very well in damascus.
Out of one 52" blade I get ayrs supply of steel.
Older blades can be just about anything so the steel anylyzer is yer friend.
The only steel I have found which I suspected was L6 has been in the form of drag saw blades. Dragsaws were used before chainsas became popular, usually run off hit'n'miss engines or horsepowered.
