I have lusted for a plasma cutter for 3 or 4 years. I had a customer stop by today and pick up a few things. We got to talking and he told me about this plasma cutter he got on ebay for $350. He was really pumped about it.

I went and looked.
from the feedback it appears legitimate. I bought one and I'll give it a try and let you know but in the mean time.

Tracy,

Before you jump, check on the availability of consumables. I've had several folks contact me about where to get consumables for their machine(s). I'm not sure its the same machine as this one, but once they ran out of the consumables that came with the machine, they were stuck.

Also remember that companies that produce plasma cutters are notorious for over rating their machines. That one has a "50" on the front, which generally means that it can severe 1/2", but not cut it cleanly. The only company that I am aware of that labels their machines with a true cut rating is Thermal Dynamics.
I read the description, and have no doubt that the stated 3/4" cutting capacity is a load of hogwash.

At that price, its really hard for me to believe that there isn't some kind a "catch" associated with the machine.

I don't think it will cut 1/2" at all but I'm hoping for 5/16" to 3/8". When I get the machine, I'll start looking for the consumables right away. The machine should have some markings or a manual. If it cuts 3/8's with out too much slag, I'll be more than satisfied. I have low hopes for this but I'm going to try it.

As far as these inexpensive Chinese made home welders go I have been happy with the ones I have seen from Longevity. Their multi function plasma cutters/TIG/Arc welders are pretty good for the price. They cost a third of a Miller or Lincoln. Longevity also has a good reputation for customer service. http://www.longevity-inc.com/products.php

A buddy of mine made a CNC table for his Longevity welder. I am having him cut out my next blanks.
