Pattern welding Apex Ultra

Whenever I can get my grubby mitts on some apex ultra, I wanted to try doing a pattern weld in the neighborhood of 500 layers probably with 15N20. I see we are warned not to heat it beyond 2050F. Or it can irreversibly damage the steel. I do have a DRO on my forge, and can control the temp to within 50 degrees pretty well, but I like to weld hotter than that. What does heat do to this stuff after 2050? Anyone have any experience with it or recommendations, or is that something I would have to ask Larrin T or Crucible?

That might be lower than the suggested max temp fo CruForgeV. You might want to see what Mr. Cashen has to say. I recall him saying that he forge welds at a lower temp than many. What is a DRO?
