Oregon/Washington Damascus Makers - Question

Ray

Dealer - Purveyor
After 14 years I have finally burned through the shell of my propane forge. I had designed mine using Wayne Goddard's "dragon's breath" forge plans. I was using a piece of 10 inch pipe about two feet long. Finally just heat rotted through. I've been calling around Portland but haven't had any luck finding anyone who has anything like what I need. Do any of you have any ideas or know where I can get a piece of pipe like that?

Thanks

If you know anyone in construction, on commercial jobs I get the 6"- 12" drops from the sprinkler mains they install. I've also used well casing drops from well drillers. Large plumbing supply outfits stock them both. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies. Finally decided I can't afford to wait and just went and bought a piece cut to size from a steel yard ($70). Ended up with a piece with 3/8 thick walls. Should last until I drop.

Sorry.. I'm in Portland... Have a piece of 12" I'd have given you for free.... Not to dump salt in your wounds.

Lol. I'm trying to be one. Finished one knife. Have 5 more forged out. And am grinding them. I work too much.

I have a shop 90% set up now. I have my GIB 2"x72" at my buddy's until I get my shop. Just mounted my 8" wheel tonight to do some hollow grinding/tapered tangs.

Oh yeah! Greg Haile, my buddy here in Tigard has a table. So I'll be helping him out. I plan on being there all three days.

I can hardly wait for April!
