One or Two Elements

I have everything ordered to build a new HT oven. Now I can’t decide if I want two elements running parallel so if one goes bad it’s easier to replace or just one big one. I am going 240v and 4000w. Any suggestions?

If it were me I would be looking at pricing, it would look like two small were cheaper than one large. if a small one goes bad then it is less of a pocket hit than one big one.

Thanks Mike! That is my thought, but I want to make sure I am not overlooking any performance loss. I want to do it right the first time.

I have built both ways.

Unless you have an unusual design, a single element will need to go across the back of the oven, but there will be no element across the front because that's where the door is.

After my first build, all mine have used 2 elements, sides only, to avoid creating a situation in which the heating at the back of the oven is different to that at the front. If I'm building an oven, it's because I want the most even heating I can manage.
