just bought this old russian lathe from a friend, i wanted one for so long, can't wait to start using it!

Hey Lerman,,
If its good enough to make a AK-47 barrel on, Its good enough for me!

When I saw the post I was hoping to see a ancient Lathe that they would of used to make 9mm STEN sub machine gun barrels out of back in the 40's-50's.

Rumor has it that during this time your countrymen imported a unusually large amount of replacement Tractor axles that were lathed into rifle barrels. LOL

Have fun! And turn a few Uzi barrels for us! LOL

it sure sounds like sometihng that would happen here in the 40's :D

Interestingly enough they also ordered and inordinate amount of lipstick tubes as well. They were using the brass tubes to make cartridge cases. Nice looking lathe BTW.

That is mentioned in the book Exodus, By Leon Uris or one of his other books?

It also tells about a no real profit Laundry service they ran on top of a hidden machine shop so they could have the washers & dryers running day & night to cover the noise and account for all the power usage of the barrel & cartridge shop below that also ran day & night. lol.

Desperate times call for smart actions.
