Just finished this one today. 3/16 thick 1080 1.5” wide 12” overall with 7”ish cutting edge.

No its not bluing. I etched it in ferric chloride. I have blued them in the past but I like the ferric chloride better. I also like to use Plum Brown but it is a little harder to control.
I applied some furnace cement to the spine area and let it dry before HT. The ferric chloride did the rest. One day I will hand sand the blade out and make it a true pretty hamon. For now I really hate hand sanding so most of the time I do not. If someone wants hand sanded finish I can do it but the price reflects the extra work. In most cases I find the oxides help more with rust prevention since the rest of the world has become spoiled by “stainless steel”. Remember the simple equation Rust=Neglect...
