Never made a knife

Hello,
I found this site while researching knife making. I am an avid hunter/fisherman, and I enjoy building and making custom "anything". I have several deer antlers that I want to use as handles, but not sure where to start. Can anyone give me advice on which category to post in? Thank you.

Nsipes, like Ed said, you'll get help by posting in the New Maker's section. I'm still pretty new at this too, but if I could make a few suggestions.... I'd say put the deer antlers aside for now, find a simple full tang drop point hunter design to try first. Keep it on the small side, don't jump right on a 12" blade. Don't make it out of lawnmower blades or other mystery steel, buy a piece of simple carbon blade steel in the 10xx series, like 1075 or 1084. If you stick with this hobby, you'll want to invest in a grinder later, but you can make a perfectly nice blade with just files, muscle power, and patience. If you interact and get to know the guys here, you will not only make some new friends, but you'll get all the help you could want.

all great advice above. if you want to dip your toe in the water before going all in, a fun way to start is by reconditioning old knives and putting custom handles on. Now- it's just as much work if not more. The only reason I suggest it as an alternative is that you can do it with simple tools - mostly sandpaper and a lot of elbow grease.

Making knives is a very satisfying experience but it's five times as much work as anyone would imagine.
