Need help with cross draw sheath

I started a cross draw sheath. I was going to use chicago screws to hold the straps to the sheath. The sheath is 3/8 inch thick at the edge. When I add the thickness of the straps I am going to need at least 5/8 inch chicago screws. 1/2 inch screws are all I am seeing. How do you guys hold the straps on a cross draw sheath? An ideas on how to make this work?

I ran into a similar issue.
Mcmaster -Carr and MSC industrial supply have some options. They don't have a lot of finishes available but you should find something. Just search Chicago bolt, binding post, or sex bolt.

How about skiving the ends of the straps that are to be attached? Might make for a cleaner finished look?

I have skived the straps. I am going to try 1/2 inch chicago screws.
