Need guidance - want to make deer antler handle knife

I want to create a knife with an antler handle. I have the antler, but need guidance on the best way to select the right knife blank for my deer antler, then how do you actually mount the knife in the antler?

When selecting the blank, do you look for a knife blank with a 'tail' that is equal to or less than the diameter of the antler?? Any ideal measurement here? Is it better if the height of the knife tail is near the exact same diameter of the antler?

What is the best method of cutting the antler to accept the knife blank?

What is the best method of securing the knife blank to the antler?

Sorry Bill I am in no way the guy to give you advice , Ive used some anltler but for a first build is very tuff. Its like swimming first do a few laps in a pool then cross the english channel. I would suggest a few kit knives first to get the overall idea watch some video on you tube then try your deer horn. You can buy blanks and kit knives from tracey mickley, or jantz or any of the other people here with hundreds to choose from. I would do a dymond wood handle on a drop point skinner to start . the kit run from 40 to 80 depending what your looking for some cheapers kits go for less but you get what you pay for.Its just to develop the basics unless your a machinist then go hard. kellyw.

Bill, we could use a little more info on you so we know where you are located, age, etc. I looked around for a tutorial but couldn't find a good one. If you were near me you could come over and I would show you how I put on a deer antler handle.
If you are new at knifemaking, this is NOT going to be easy for you. I too would suggest you start with something simpler.
