My very first semi-tactical folder/flipper

I was gonna make a Les George/tactical inspiration joke, but I do not want to incur the verbal wrath of Sir Les... :)

So... full disclosure, I took these liners and the pivot out of another knife, but the blade, scales, backspacer and even rear bolts were done all by me.

Alabama Damascus etched with Radioshack PCB echant
Black Canvas micarta over red liner.

It flips nice and easy, but there is a tiny tiny bit of front to back play when open. :( Live and learn, and that's why this one is my proof of concept. Its not for sale.

What do you think?

I don't have a pocket clip made for it yet... but its on the list of final to-do's...

thanks guys!

from handling it all night and this morning, the action is freeing up and flipping even easier. Plus the micarta is getting some natural oils in it from my hands and doesn't have that dry look anymore. :)

I love the feel of the handle shape in my hand, and will probably pursue these as some I make several of at a time. And I want to do some as flippers and some with only thumbstuds. As soon as I get paid Friday, I plan on ordering lots of part... :D

Hopefully I'll have some done by the AG Russell show...

I agree Randy! and once I'm done paying for attorney's fee (for another divorce) and my daughter's medical bills (tonsil's out tomorrow)... I hope to be able to afford some HHH Damascus. The FooMan Chu pattern... LOL

Brad, You mentioned some side play in your blade. I am not sure what you are using to hold the knife together (back spacer), is it pinned or can it be tightened if it is loose? I hope all goes well for your daughter. Dan

Thanks Dan... The play is actually front to back, and I think it is because I had a nice early lock up BEFORE I finished cleaning up the blade... Those extra few thousandths that came off were just enough to allow a very late lock up... TOO late actually :(

Thanks again, she's doing great!
