i have read that 1084 .fg. will darken wen patinaed with , ferric . im a stock remover well these metal hold a good edge H/T good for a novist any info welcome help a mutt out
Pretty much all 10xx steels are 'dark' steels when etched, also O-1.
It's a great steel for someone starting out, edge holding and performance is dependant on your HT method.
