Makers mark on Damascus?

I still don’t have a makers mark , but that’s another story. How does one acid etch a makers mark on damascus. Would it not stand out? I have seen some that do and some that don’t.

I etch my mark then cover with fingernail polish then etch the Damascus.

The other Option is gold electrolyte. I have seen it done, but the problem is that I can’t figure out how to do it even after multiple conversations with a couple of different jewelry supply stores. The late Al Pendray used to do this. I ended up going with a shield type mark and nail polish

I couldn’t find it. I see one where he puts gold inlays in.
