looking for long time review on riverside (uncle al) press

i've been searching here and over at the other knife forum (and google of course) but I'm not finding a whole lot in recent reviews of uncle al's press.
I am in the market to get a new to me press, possibly a new one (I really like clark iron forge).

But i stumbled upon a used riverside press that would save me some coin, but as I said there are a few reviews but honestly the design looks like you can get play in it (could be wrong). I did read a review where the poster said that if you need to use dies that match up 100% (like doing patterns) that there is a little slop in the die holder and that can cause grief with that. really that's about as much negative as i can find.

but, it only comes with a foot pedal. I know I can retrofit a hand control. but i am also looking at total cost including time to get it where i want. I have used a coal ironworks 12 (er 9) ton, and a clark iron forge 40 ton. the clark was incredible, the coal worked really well for what it was. but in both cases the hand control allowed really precise control, and makes it easy to do a series of quick light squeezes when setting welds.
How limiting is just having the foot pedal on uncle al's? For this kind of operation? Also any one who has had one of these for a while, how have you liked it and how has it held up? The one I'm looking at is ~7 years old but in good repair.
