Long overdue upgrade

I added a rubber layer to my disk grinder.

I got it from the Boss at least a year ago, maybe 2, but I never got around to putting it on.

Now that I have it on I wonder why the heck I waited so long!

So much better. Way smoother.

This is a cheap and fast upgrade that I highly recommend.

You're right about the rubber upgrade on a disk. I used my disk some without a rubber pad and wasn't impressed much at all. Didn't really use it much at all after grinding with no rubber. Then I added the rubber pad - WOW!!! now I realize just how good a disk grinder can be.

Similar to this, I put a piece of 1/8” 60 Duro rubber UNDER my flat platen. It smooths operation even more, and pretty much eliminates “belt bump”.

To clarify, I’m using an aluminum platen, with a steel liner bolted on for the surface. The rubber sheet is pinched between the two.

Do you get any surprise zaps?

Adding a glass plate is a huge improvement, too, but does create a capacitor.
