I was set up at the Chicago show one time. There were some table holders that were guild members there also. One of them talked to me about joining the guild and assured me that he would consider buying a knife from me if I were a member. They seem to be a close knit club. One time I contacted them about joining and never got an email back. Do they not want me in the guild? I've heard that ABS Mastersmiths can join.

Bruce,The Guild is like any other group of people,we're made up if all kinds. I'm sorry you got the impression you did,let me assure you, most Guild members are not like that.
I've hear other complaints like yours where inquires about membership were not answered,it's even happened to me!
I personally would love to have you as a guild member and will get an application to you if you are still interested.
Yes ABS Master Smiths can join without having to go through the inspection process.
I've been a Guild member since 2009 but just got involved in membership this year when I volunteered to do this membership drive.
I'm trying to do a little to help The Guild any help from members here will be greatly appreciated.
Please,Bruce, let me know if your still interested,I believe you would be an asset to The Guild.

I'm a nobody from nowhere, but I am going to be at the show this year being judged for probationary membership. The guild guys I met at a show in DFW this spring were friendly and more or less "recruited" or at least "encouraged" me to join the guild.

I think Bruce would be an asset to any organization, the guild included.
