I have heard over the years about the "Triple Quench"
Where a blade is taken to non-magnetic temp and then quenched in whatever liquid is being use at the time.
Years ago as a newbie I spoke with Mr. Bob Loveless about this and he said in his usual critical voice,.
"Each heat will cancel out the previous quench so it doesn't do a darn thing!"
While Mr. Loveless was not a metallurgist he certainly knew all lot about steel and knife making.
I have always wondered if there is any real science behind this process since I still see it used and talked about quite a lot?
Since you are the most knowledgable person I know when it comes to these questions regarding Heat Treatment of carbon Steels I am bringing this question to you and any others that have repeatable proof of any benefit of doing a Triple Quench.
