I'm thinking of building a Heat Treating Oven over the Winter. I plan on using the light weight refractory bricks and refractory cement. I found a control that is programmable like the commercial ovens. My question is, after making a coil what is the max you can stretch it out to fit the oven? I realize I have to design the element for wattage, current and voltage but what I want to know is when I stretch the coil what is the max I can stretch it to fit the oven? I plan on using Kanthal wire to build it. I have a design for the element but wasn't sure if I would have to stretch it too much.
