Just a quick intro from Mark at Burl Source

Burl Source

Forum Owner & Moderator
I just found out about this forum from Mike who has some wood for sale in the classifieds. Thanks Mike. I was surprised to see how many names I recognized among the posts. Looks like this might be the up and coming knife forum.

I make knives as a hobbyist with limited abilities but still enjoy myself. Since I work at a place that sells burl wood I come across some pretty bizarre looking wood. I like to pick out some of the best which I cut into blocks for handles. It is always fun to see what you guys are able to do with the wood.

After the Blade West Show I will list some in the classifieds. This year I sprung for a booth instead of a table so I am still getting stuff ready for the show this weekend. If you are attending, stop by and say hello.

Thanks, Mark

Mark,
Great to see both you and Mike here.

I did want to update you on the Burl Source test wood that you so kindly sent and apologize for my delay in completing a knife with it. After a couple months of work delays I'm back in the saddle and on my 3rd blade intended to be matched with your wood.

In the spirit of showcasing both your product and and my abilities I am reluctant to use this wood on a blade that is less than up to my standards and small rookie type flaws have prevented me from utilizing the Buckeye up to this point.

I could bang out a simpler design to expedite things and provide the pics and review if you'ld like. What I'm working on is a 5.5" hidden tang Chefs knife with damascus bolster and fully carved and polished handle. I really feel that sticking to my plan of completing this particular design will be beneficial to us both however it was not my intent to take this long to complete the knife.

What do you think ? I do have another hunter patterened blade that is heat treated and ready for finishing which I could complete with my test wood in short order.

Thanks again- Josh

Hey Josh,
I say hold out for the chef's knife. Don't worry about rookie mistakes. I have ruined lots of good wood. There's always more. Thanks for the welcome and the note. Mark

Hey Mark, Glad to see you joined up! I just figured this place might work for you, since the previous place is trying to charge you about $200, and it's only $30 here.

Thanks Mike,
I don't think I would have found this place without your message.
