Hello! My name is James Clair. I live in Marsing Idaho. Great place, great people, great fishing, and great hunting.
I have started putting kit knives together about a year ago. I love it! The price on my blades went up alot, so I have started to make my own blades. The steel of choice is 5160. I can get all the scrap I want for very little money. And a lot of imput on the steel.
The groups I have seen on this site are great. I have all ready met a few and really like what I have seen. Thank you Tracy for the note. Thank you Bruce for the trade.
I do work in a cabinet shop. It is a full time job, must of the time. I also make small wooden boxes, like jewerly boxes, hope chests, gun cabinet (not so small), and just about any thing else. Fishing, hunting, outdoor hiking, and the birds. Southern Cal has lots of good bird whatching!
I am slowly getting my knife shop put together to make my own blades. There is a lot more to making the blades than just finishing them. The help I have seen from this group is great. Thank you for the time.
