Howdy.....My passion for knives

I have always enjoyed handling and owning beautifully crafted and very sharp knives. My granddad gave me my first knife. It was a rusty, pitted Case, carbon steel, triple bladed, pocket knife, that he had traded for. To me it was beautiful, I was 10 years old. I have had it now for over 55 years. I have worked on those rusty and pitted carbon steel blades over the years and it is now almost as bright, shiny, and sharp as new. I am as proud of it today as that 10 year old boy was then. The thing about working those blades over and over again, I enjoyed every minute. I have not replaced any parts, and the only money I spent on it was for WD40, steel wool, and naval jelly. By the way; Still trying to get that gooey stuff out of my belly button. Speaking of belly buttons does anyone know what a naval destroyer is......a Hoola Hoop with a nail in it. Anyway..... I now have time to begin a new hobby, and I want to make some knives. Hopefully this forum will be helpful with the vast amount of experience I am now privy to. Looking forward to relaxing with my new hobby and learning the ins and outs of knife making.
