How to Run step pulleys in reverse?

Hi all:
Before I possibly waste my time or worse,
I’m wanting to run a step pulley driven KMG in Reverse for knife sharpening. I personally find it easier to get right angle and see bur grinding that way. Anyone know if the following would work and or if there is a better way?
From an internet search ( long one lol) I found that apparently if you twist a drive belt into a figure 8, it will run in reverse?
I contacted Beaumont and they said they didn’t know.” They also recommended against running in reverse for safety reasons.”

I'm surprised that Beaumont would respond with "I don't know" instead of simply telling you that the motor needs to be reversed. Then again, I suspect that they'd rather you not reverse the belt rotation, because the original KMG doesn't always track very well in the reverse direction.

That said, it can be done, and there are adjustments you can make to get the belt centered in both directions, but it will likely take some tweaking and adjustments.
