How to fix a mistake?

So I finished this sheath but placed the snap too loose. After moving the snap, the original hole is visible. Does anyone have an idea how to either hide the hole or make it not look so bad? I figure I could add more holes to make it look like a belt but that may look silly.

Thanks

That's a tough one. The first thought I had was to make 2 cuts from the hole so you would have 2 tails instead of one.

I can think of a couple of fixes. None are perfect.
1. Cut a matching slot on both sides of the snap.
2. Put a hole on the other side of the snap to match. Ehh!
3. Get a bit funky with the strap. Cut it off and add a new one by sewing it on.
None are perfect. You may wish to just add the stitch as Vonbrown suggested.

I am not sure this shows up very well. On this sheath the strap is sewn to the sheath. Then the snap was added to the strap. Then all the way around and the snap was added with the pull tab following. The downside is you have to cut off your strap to try it.

Get rid of the snap, replace with a Sam Brown stud and use the two holes as ends of the slot for the Sam Brown stud.

The only thing different I can come up with is to cut the strap off even with the edge of the snap. I might make it a littler harder to work the snap though.
Or, cut it off a little past the hole then use the hole to attach a piece of lacing or raw hide strip with maybe a bead or something and it will look intentional like you added something to pull on to work the snap. That could actually be made to look cool and functional.

So this is what I ended up with. I may need to clean up the cut outs a little with sandpaper or something like that but I had to put it down before I destroyed it.

My personal opinion is that I never like having a strap like that. The strap may not be a bad ides but I look at it and see if I was going through brush it could get dragged off the frog and then your knife would fall out . I would like to see the strap turned the other direction.

If you were designing it for a snap facing the opposite way, you could take the existing strap location and make it a short nub with the bottom snap on it. You could make a strap/top snap coming from the front to complete the closure.
