I finished up the hollow grind blade this morning. I like the lighter finish on this birds eye but I'm thinking I can tweak it some more when I use maple again. Here are the photos.
Very nice! I like the handle contours very much. The plunges look great and the grind lines are much better. To get perfect grind lines at the top of the bevel usually requires hand sanding.

Thanks John. I thought about doing the hand sanding and will probably start doing more of that in the very near future. I was a little gun shy. I tried to perfect another blade and it didn't go well. I'll ease into it next time for sure.
The grind is very pretty. I have never hand sanded a hollow ground blade. But a good trick to make your lines look good is hand sanding. You can even "fix" grind lines that aren't exactly the same on both sides.
A very crisp looking blade and nice overall lines. I am incined to like the natural colours of the maple as you have finished it here. Any darkening by whatever means can look contrived if not done with subtlety
