Help with mistake on Blade finish

I put the handle on and didn’t have the blade covered good enough I guess. It has some scratches in the flat part ,I was trying to shine up nice.Cant think of a way to sand it out with handle still on,tried but looks worse by the front of the handle. Am I crazy thinking of covering the g10 with wax ,and trying to etch the blade dark ? With ferric acid andACV ? Blade is 01

That is a difficult area to clean up after scales are mounted. Try using a credit card/thin piece of rigid plastic with Thin sand paper as your sanding block.
