Let me introduce myself.

Charles Shepherd

I live in Cleveland, TN and am a salesman at a shooting sports wholesaler.

Started making knives 3 years ago and then had to take a break when the little one came along and wife developed some health issues. Little one is a bit older now and wife is doing great so I'm looking forward to getting back into the shop.

Here's a couple of examples of the knives made before the break.

This is my first knife. Made it form a file. Really holds an edge but rusts if you look at it funny.

My favorite so far.

And here's my forge I built from part of a 120mm mortar tube. Works great.

Anyway, enough in the introductions. I'm here to learn and be inspired. Working on building the NWGS grinder here soon.

Charles, welcome aboard. I live up in Sunbright, Tn. Just up north of you. You will really like the NWGS. I am conducting workshops to build them with welding and some other modifications. Matter of fact I have a workshop going on this weekend. Check my introduction post for more information on these workshops. Call or e-mail me to make plans to come up and visit some time.

Hey Charlie!

Glad to have you here on KnifeDogs. Bet it feels good to get back in the shop. I'm in Southern Middle Tennessee and hope to meet you at a hammer-in or knife show sometime.

Hello Charlie,
Welcome to KnifeDogs....

Funny co-incidence, I am trying to connect with a shooting sports wholesaler.

Hey Charles glad you are here and like the forge.

Thanks. The Forge was fun to build and works very good. I would like to build one a bit longer but my source for free mortar tubes has dried up. Might have to pony up and actually pay some cash for one. :(

I've worked with either old files or O1 so far and really enjoy doing my own heat treating.

btw- the NWG will make the work suddenly leaps n bounds ahead of where you may be now,.. its that worth it, truly.

Oh I can't wait. Picked up the steel today. I've got a trunk full of bolts, nuts, washers and rusty steel. I'm in heaven.
