Hello. I am brand new to this craft. Im in the process of gathering all the items I need to build a knife grinder. Looking forward to touching base with others who have much more wisdom then I. Hunting, fishing, woodwork, welding are amoungst my hobbies at present.

Welcome to KD. I am building a grinder in a box, it is all of the pieces cutout and most holes drilled. Still a lot to do but it is worth a look. Ed
 
I strongly suggest that you fill our your profile to let people know where you are. There are some very talented makers in Alberta who also happen to be very nice folks that love nothing better than helping folks learn to make better knives. I spent a year in Calgary a short while back, and even though they all knew I was only going to be there for a short time, the knife making community in Alberta (and BC) embraced me and treated me like one of their own. One of the better years I've ever lived, really. I learned a ton and made some good friends that I still keep up with a few years down the road.
