Fine looking sheath Jim ! A heck of a start I'd say.
Here's a little tip for using black die in very tight places like the tiny points created where the scallops meet. Use a fine tip sharpie to get those super fine areas. It allows very precise placement of color without bleeding so bad like normal dye has a tendancy to do. Thats a little trick I've used a few times while dying the backround of a carving black.
