File knife

I finished my file knife. Old Nicholson file, Desert Iron Wood scales, Copper pins and hollow grind. Wasnt sure I was gonna like the larger recaso area but I wanted to show off a little more of the file. I like the way it came out. This is a lot less finished than my usual. Really like the Ironwood, there is no finish on them! Sanded to 1k and buffed!! Need to sharpen still and I'm thinking I should put some Tru-Oil on just to seal it all up and keep the Copper from turning then again that might look cool too!!IMG_20180802_35664.jpgIMG_20180802_24174.jpgl too??

Looks good! You really learn hammer control when forging one, trying not to hit the parts you want to keep the file look on.

This one was roughed in at a Basic Blacksmith class I took. A gent there brought in a bunch of files and offered me them. Then some of the class wanted to see how a knife was made so with the Smiths blessing I had a few guys watch me rough it in.

Very nice, I need to try the ironwood, that is beautiful!

I was very impressed with the ironwood. It is very resinous so wear a mask while working it. I bought this on Etsy for 7 bucks figured I'd give it a try! Very glad I did!!
