Damascus Skinner

Just finished up a small version of my Hawg Dawg Skinner made from Alabama Damascus Steel with a deep etch.

The dimensions are OAL = 7 1/8", Blade= 3 1/16", Width= 1", Thickness= 5/32"

Handle material is from KUDU horn with green vulcanized liners and nickle silver pins and tubing.

The knife sheath is a mexican loop style which I custom made myself.

Still need to put the edge on that bad boy before it leaves the front door. It's a lesson that I learned the hard way which is to wait and do that last. Let me know what you guys think and where I can improve.

God Bless,
Robert Cabrera

Robert I dont understand why would your knife leave the house without being sharp. I oil all my knives to keep them protected sharp ready to skin. I really like the large s pattern I an a huge fan of doing file work and using exotic stuff the kudu hor sounds killer. I have some sprinbok and wart hog tust to use ive used hog tusk in the past with good success. kellyw

I think what he was implying, was that he on a previous knife, he sharpened it before the handlework, or sheath or something else was not finished. Ended up cutting himself while finishing the knife, so now saves sharpening for the VERY last step. I do the same process.

Really good looking knife and very nice filework as well.

That's exactly what I meant. My very first knife I made went thru the sharpening process before the sheath was made. The rest of the story as I'm sure you've guessed by now resulted in a few lacerations to my hand along with some bruised pride and a lesson well learned.
