Come on Bruce, that one has had me pondering for a while now so I did a search on here and couldn't see anything on it.

Let's have some more details.

What size BB did you start with? Do you have WIP pictures?

Hi Stew,
I used to transform ball bearings into bowies allot until I found one that didnt hold its edge. Now I use known steel. It was great practise back then and so much fun too.
I would start with 1.5" ball bearings. The trouble is getting them too hot when forging does something to them that any amount of correct heat treating couldnt remedy.
I do like that picture though.
