I finished up the knife I sprayed with Plasti-dip rubber spray paint to protect it during the remainder of my process. It worked wonderfully. Not a mark on the blade and man was it easier to get my handle symmetrical when I can still see my blade and not an acre of paper towels. It took me all of three minutes to remove the rubber after I finished my handle. I have some suggestions to those who may wish to try it. Do not use the same color paint as the etch on your blade. Get white, gray was hard to see against the etched Damascus. Do at least two coats (it dries quick). It will not protect you from cuts, so if your edge is sharp already be careful or put tape on the edge only. When you get ready to remove the paint get it started and use your thumb to roll the paint off.
